A HISTORY OF BAKING, A FUTURE OF GIVING.
Born in 1982, Bread Basket Bakery grew into a thriving staple in Downtown Saratoga Springs over four decades.
In 2020, Ed and Lisa Mitzen, the founders of Business for Good™, purchased the bakery, committing to keep the same delicious recipes that made Bread Basket successful. In 2022, with high-demand for our custom cakes, Bread Basket Cake Shop opened in Saratoga Springs.
As Good businesses, only one thing changed: all profits from the Bakery and Cake Shop are donated to charities fighting food insecurity and hunger.

Sarah loves the creative side of her work too keeping the menu fresh and exciting. At Bread Basket, she gets to do what she loves, and serve a community that’s close to her heart.
HEAD CAKE DESIGNER
Originally from western New York, Angelina graduated from Alfred State with her degree in baking, production, and management. She started working at Bread Basket in the late 1990s, and after a brief hiatus, has come back to reunite with her creativity. She brings 20+ years of cake decorating and baking experience and has now been with the Bread Basket for five years with a loyal customer base.
HEAD BAKER, BAKERY
Natasha has been working in food service for over forty years in a variety of positions. She worked her way up from bartending and waitressing, to cooking, baking, and managing. Her European pastry and cake decorating skills were learned on the job. She was trained by professional baker, Matthew Littrell, who was lead baker at Skidmore College. They eventually married, and opened a bakery and restaurant in Vermont, which they ran together for ten years.
As war refugees, her parents and grandmother knew first-hand what hunger felt like, and so her family bakery focused on charitable giving. Working at Bread Basket Bakery feels like coming home for her, as the business donates all profits to local charities working to end food insecurity and hunger.
